How do I start?
Open Dock Pets from your Applications folder. It lives in the menu bar (the little pixel cat at the top right of your screen), and a pet walks out onto your Dock. From the menu bar icon you choose which pets are on your Dock and open the settings.
I can't see my pet.
Check three things: that Dock Pets is running (its icon is in the menu bar), that no app is in full screen (pets step aside then), and that "Pause behaviours" is off in the settings. If your Dock hides automatically, your pet appears when the Dock does. Still nothing? Quit Dock Pets from the menu bar and open it again.
Can my pet start when my Mac starts?
Yes. Turn on "Open at login" in the settings. If macOS asks, allow Dock Pets in System Settings → General → Login Items.
My Dock is on the side, or I use several displays.
Your pet lives on your Dock, on whichever display the Dock is on, including a Dock on the left or right.
How do I pause or quit?
Turn on "Pause behaviours" in the settings and your pets wait where they are. To quit, choose Quit from the menu bar icon.
How do I make my own pet?
From the menu bar icon, open Pets… and choose Make your own. Add a clear photo where the coat is easy to see: good light, the whole animal, not too far away. The app shows you the result before you pay; if it's not quite right, repaint it up to 3 times, with the same photo or another one. Keeping it is $4.99, once.
I got a new Mac, or reinstalled. Where are my pets?
Open Pets… from the menu bar icon and choose Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought with. Your starter pet is remembered on the Mac it was drawn on.
My dog breed isn't supported.
Custom dogs are made from breeds our artist has drawn: Beagle, Bull Terrier, Chihuahua, Corgi, Miniature Poodle, Papillon, Pug, Afghan Hound, Australian Shepherd, Bernese Mountain Dog, Bloodhound, Dalmatian, Doberman, German Shepherd, Great Dane, Greyhound, Leonberger, Shiba Inu, Siberian Husky, and close lookalikes. The app tells you before you pay whether it can make a good match. You can request your breed on the home page and we'll email you when it's drawn.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all purchases, so refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in with the Apple Account you bought with, find Dock Pets and choose "Request a refund".
How do I uninstall Dock Pets?
Quit it from the menu bar icon, then drag Dock Pets from your Applications folder to the Trash.
Requirements
A Mac with macOS 15 Sequoia or later, Apple silicon or Intel. Buying pets and making your own need an internet connection; everything else works offline.
